Delighted to reveal the design of the new Northmont Branch Library in Englewood, OH. This 19,880 sf branch will be 60% larger than the existing library, and will be prominently sited along the bike path on National Rd. The library will feature dedicated spaces for adults, teens, and children, a quiet reading room w/ fireplace and nine meeting rooms. Projected opening is summer of 2022.

Fulfilling a 15 year dream, Dayton Christian School opened its new 20,000 square foot Warrior Center on the schools first day back for the 2019-2020 school year. The gym has a college-sized basketball court and two side courts, volleyball, bleachers, bathrooms and a Warrior Hall of Fame lobby. Leading the design team was like a home coming for Mark Ruetschle, an alumni of Dayton Christian School.

Today Northmont City Schools dedicated the newly renovated Community Auditorium, the final phase in Northmont’s five year plan to build a new primary school and high school. The renovation project also includes space for Northmont’s distinguished ROTC program, and the Northmont Secondary Academy.
The Dayton Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) recognized Ruetschle Architects with a Design Award for the Northwest Branch Library. This salute to design excellence was awarded at Tuesday’s biennial Focus on Design Awards Program, and the jury was comprised of representatives from AIA Birmingham, Alabama.
Today marked the grand re-opening of the Kettering Moraine Branch Library – Ruetschle’s second project as part of Dayton Metro Library’s ambitious $187M reconstruction plan. The project features a flexible community room, quiet reading room, gizmo-themed children’s area, and outdoor reading terrace. Three original art installations by area artists are also featured in this landmark facility for the residents of Kettering and Moraine.

The 350 seat Schwalm Chapel was dedicated today. The Chapel provides a classic worship experience in a modern setting, as well as Fairhaven’s new home for weddings and funerals.
On November 5, the American Institute of Architects, Dayton Chapter awarded the Little Woods House with a Merit Award. The Awards are part of the AIA’s biennial Focus on Design Awards Program designed to recognize design excellence in the Miami Valley. The jury was comprised of representatives from AIA Springfield, Missouri – Andrew Wells, FAIA, of Drake Wells Architects served as the jury chair.
On Thursday, the student body of Bethel Local Schools gathered in the gravel lot beside the high school to break ground on the new addition. “Let the construction begin!” Superintendent Ginny Potter declared. After the dirt was ceremonially shoveled, students lined up to mark the border of the new addition. Students of all ages participated in the ceremony, which was held during school hours so that they could be involved. The $22M project includes major site improvements and high school addition.
The Honu House celebrated its opening this weekend. Honu is a hawaiian term for green sea turtle, and served as the parti for the design. Resting on a gentle slope, the Honu House offers panoramic views of Harmony Farms and a tree lined pond below. The opening of this retirement home marks a long term relationship with the Brewers, dating back to the 1950’s when John Ruetschle worked on the original Brewer home. Over the last 60 years Ruetschle Architects have completed four buildings at Harmony Farms in Tipp City Ohio.
